Wreck It Ralph

by Oliver Layco

Wreck It Ralph centers around the antagonist in a game named Ralph. Ralph (John C Reilly) destroys things in the game and Felix (Jack McBrayer) then fixes it. After doing this for 30 years, Ralph gets tired of it and doesn’t want to be a bad guy anymore. He then tries to gain respect in his own game by trying to become a hero in others. Throughout the movie, there are extensive amounts of background characters and jokes that the older generation would appreciate more. I’m not saying smaller kids won’t like this movie; it’s just that all the characters Disney was able to get for this movie made it that much better. There’s Zangief from Street Fighter, Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Q-Bert, the list could go on. Other actors lending their voices include Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Adam Carolla. The story itself fell into the default Disney line, but it didn’t feel like a normal one. Between the music and the way characters were portrayed, the way they told it was well done. One moment in particular almost had me tearing up, but I held back. I would say this is one of the best Disney animated films since Toy Story; it’s one of the more memorable ones for me and I could see myself buying it. Also, I think it is one of the most profitable non-Pixar movies Disney has released. Overall, this was a very enjoyable movie for both the older and younger crowds. My sisters and friends often found ourselves as some of the louder people laughing throughout the movie. If you get a chance, go out to see this one before it’s out of theaters.

9.5 out of 10 Bigblue Leaps!!
