Batman: Arkham Asylum

Before this game, Batman was known as a video game failure. Numerous attempts at a good Batman video game had resulted in absolutely zero memorable titles. That all changed with Batman: Arkham Asylum. The story is simple; the Joker has taken over Arkham Asylum in a bid to break the Dark Knight once and for all. Along your journey to restore order to the Asylum you will uncover a plot to make super soldiers and confront a huge portion of Batman’s enemies. Bane, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and Zsasz all make appearances along with the Joker. Killer Croc who I never particularly liked as a Batman villain is awesome and one of the most intimidating foes I’ve ever seen in a video game. What makes this game amazing is that it really captures the essence of playing as Batman. You use his gadgets and stealth to intimidate and scare your enemies, of course there is an awesome hand to hand combat system as well. Oh and if that wasn’t good enough Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy return to voice the Joker and Batman respectively. The result is a game that almost feels like it is a sequel to Batman: The Animated Series.
